I love teaching infants and toddlers in the aquatic environment and watching their proud parents’ reactions. Watching your child successfully swim and float for the very first time is right up there with their first step and word. It is truly amazing to see a baby roll onto their back and float; and be able to take a breath. With drowning being so prevalent in our area, we need to prepare children with the skills needed to survive in and around water. Watching children and helping them become competent in their skills in the water is so important to me. Having three of my own children “graduate” from the ISR program, I am passionate about ISR and teaching other young children– it is so thrilling to know that your child is safer around the water!

I discovered ISR when I was in need of lessons for my children. I searched for a program that catered specifically to infants and young children, since getting them skilled was of the utmost importance to me considering we had just built a pool in our backyard. I was amazed to see babies as young as 6 months learn aquatic self rescue skills. I was so impressed with the successful results that my children had, as well as the amazing results other students demonstrated, that I felt compelled to help other parents experience the same satisfaction. After looking further into the ISR program, I understood the scientific approach and realized that 40+ years of research and a commitment to safety makes ISR very unique. As I became more impressed with the instructors, the technique and the philosophy, I decided to become an instructor myself and join in ISR’s mission to ensure that “not one more child drowns”.
